Featuring the ten original songs and two previously unreleased bonus tracks, her debut is something we'd be just as likely to release brand new in 2010 as in 2000. Asthmatic Kitty is proud to announce the re-press of Shannon Stephens' self-titled debut (2000). Produced by Stephens and her former Marzuki band-mates Sufjan Stevens and Matt Haseltine in 2000, this superb collection of Shannon's own songs includes contributions by Marzuki cellist Jamie Kempkers, Kenny Hutson (Vigilantes of Love) on pedal steel guitar, "Mews" and "Mews Too" contributors Roman Bolks and Jason Brouwer, and folk mainstay Jason Harrod.  With new artwork by Gala Bent and two previously unreleased bonus tracks, this release will delight newcomers and faithful fans. Shannon Stephens’ long-awaited second album, The Breadwinner, is almost here. You can preorder it now by clicking here, or wait and purchase it when it hits your local record store on September 8th. To celebrate the release and her triumphant return to musicdom after a 10 year hiatus, Shannon will play at a CD release party on August 29th at Shadowland Restaurant and Bar in West Seattle, WA. The party is free and starts at 8pm. Special guest The Marrying Type will also be performing.

The Breadwinner will also be available to purchase at the show, a whole week and a half before its official release. If you can’t make it out, the show will be streamed live on Shadowland’s website right here. And speaking of streaming, two days prior to the release party, Shannon will be featured live on Seattle’s KBCS’ "Lunch With Folks" at 1pm (91.3 FM). Listen live on their website here!

SHANNON STEPHENS PERFORMS IN SEATTLE

This is a rare event!  The last time Shannon Stephens played in front of a live audience was seven years ago!

But if you live in Seattle, you can catch her this rare event on Friday night (the 25th) at the Shafer-Baillie Mansion at 7:30pm as she opens for Jason Herrod. Admission is Radiohead-style; pay what you can at the door (aka "strongly suggested donations").
