If you haven’t already met, we’d like to introduce you to Easy Street Records located in Seattle, Washington.

Easy Street Records opened in West Seattle Junction in 1988, founded by owner Matt Vaughan who consolidated two closing record stores into one. The store moved to its current location in the historic Hamm Building in 1989 and expanded to include a full-service cafe/bar serving coffee, breakfast, lunch, beer, and wine by 2001. A second Queen Anne location operated from 2002-2013.

Easy Street carries new and used CDs, vinyl records, DVDs/BluRays, books, magazines, and branded merchandise, but is perhaps best known for hosting over 500 live in-store performances by both national touring artists (Lou Reed, Elvis Costello, Kings of Leon, Patti Smith, Lana Del Rey, Jack Johnson) and Northwest favorites (The Sonics, Mudhoney, The Shins, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Brandi Carlile, The Head & the Heart).

The creative process behind @denisonwitmer’s

The creative process behind @denisonwitmer’s “Which Way” continues to unfold. Today we’re highlighting Andy Park’s distinctive take on the track and the artistic vision that shaped his approach.

“Andy Park and I added strings and natural drums as a way to pull the song back toward the other songs on the album, but months later, Sufjan removed most of that and pushed things even further toward an electronic and drum-sample heavy version. In the end, I had two versions of the song that I loved.”

When @denisonwitmer and @sufjan collaborate, magic happens. Today we’re spotlighting Sufjan’s remix of “Which Way” and the creative journey that brought it to life.

“I originally wrote ‘Which Way’ in 2020 as part of my Uncle Denny songwriting project – I wrote a song a day for a month and recorded them using a single microphone,” stated Witmer. “Sufjan and I kept coming back to this song because of its simple lyric and repetitive vibe. The song is about the overwhelming feeling of indecision – a feeling echoed in the recording process for the final version. When Sufjan and I started arranging ‘Which Way,’ things went in an electronic direction, which was quite different for me.”

The track went from a simple one-mic demo to a full electronic arrangement, maintaining the core theme throughout the creative process.

@denisonwitmer just released two different versions of his new song “Which Way”, out today on Asthmatic Kitty Records. Originally captured during the recording sessions of his latest album ‘Anything At All,’ the A-side/B-side tracks feature one version remixed by @sufjan and one remixed by @andyrecording.
