Half-handed Cloud
Harp Thats Hung-up in the Tree E.P.
SOLD OUT
If you visited the merchandise table during Half-handed Cloud’s Spring 2006 tour, you noticed a new release not available anywhere else titled Harp That’s Hung-up in the Tree e.p. This mini-album (limited to 500 copies) is now available outside of performance venues at Asthmatic Kitty Records’ online shop (while supplies last).
Half-handed Cloud’s John Ringhofer wrote most of the songs during the same writing-sessions that produced the recent Halos & Lassos album. For one reason or another, the six Harp… songs didn’t quite fit on Halos…, but were considered worthy of their own release instead. They were captured on a 4-track cassette recorder in the winter months of 2005-2006.
Topics range from forgiveness and fellowship to discouragement and disbelief (upon witnessing an unbelievable all-you-can-eat food-array). Arrangements are fleshed-out with ramshackle drums, one-finger piano melodies, a bass Melodion, vocal harmonies, and occasional playing on a borrowed Euphonium in 8:43 minutes. Despite the title, Harp That’s Hung-up in the Tree contains no harps (nor much of its electronic cousin, the Omnichord), and is packaged simply as a 3-color compact disc, in a paper sleeve, with a sticker on the back. Enjoy!
