Seeking Contractor: Social Media & Content Creation

Asthmatic Kitty Records is seeking a part-time contractor to support social media management and content creation. This is a behind-the-scenes ops role—ideal for someone with experience managing artist or label accounts who wants steady, ongoing freelance work. You should be organized, comfortable working independently, and able to maintain a consistent posting rhythm without a lot of oversight. This is a PART TIME, CONTRACT position. There is not currently a path to full-time.
Here’s some of what you’d do:
Social Media Management
- Execute scheduled posting 4-5 times weekly across AKR social platforms following an established content calendar
- Monitor incoming messages across platforms at least 3x weekly—answering general questions, directing inquiries appropriately, and filtering/resharing Instagram stories per guidelines
- Create graphics for posts and resize images as needed
Content Creation & Playlist Management
- Create vertical video cut-downs from archival music video and live performance footage for social content, including adding lyrics/captions
- Design assets for releases: DSP graphics (Spotify banners, playlist covers), profile images and headers resized for each platform
- Edit and create content for digital ad campaigns—video cut-downs, call-to-action text, audio editing as needed
- Support marketing campaigns with graphics and assets as needed
- Create occasional unboxing videos for select products
- Coordinate monthly playlist updates with the AKR team
- Archive previous month’s playlist and publish updated playlist to Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube
- Create promotional content (playlist cover, social graphics) for monthly posts
Qualifications:
- Experience creating content for social media
- Proficient in Canva and CapCut (or similar tools) for graphics and video editing
- Comfortable creating content that fits an established brand voice and visual style
- Familiarity with platform-specific best practices and content formats (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable and responsive, with systems in place to manage your own time
Desired Skills:
- Experience with DSP asset creation and specs (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube)
- Familiarity with project management tools like Asana and Airtable
- Natural feel for what performs well on social without needing constant direction
This is a fully remote, part-time contractor position. Daily weekday check-ins (M-F) are required for social media management, but hours are otherwise flexible. You’ll report to the Marketing Manager.
Hours & Payment:
- Monthly retainer: $1,000
- Hours included: ~35 hours per month (approximately 8 hours/week)
- Time tracking required — you’ll notify us if approaching the monthly cap so we can discuss priorities or adjust scope as needed
Tools & Resources: Tools used include Airtable, Asana, Canva, and CapCut Pro. If there are additional tools you need or recommend, we’re open to reviewing and covering associated costs.
