Once again the Daytona for the Pitchfork-set has rolled around like indie rock's own version of pledge week. In place of strange rituals and memorization of legacy nicknames, there are strange rituals and LOTS of bands. LOTS. How could we sit this one out?
So yes, Asthmatic Kitty is once again headed to SXSW in Austin. We have gathered up a few willing and enthused diplomats, namely Rafter, DM Stith and Jookabox, and are headed down to rock and roll and taco with the rest of them. We will be kicking off the festivities with a combined showcase on Wednesday night (March 17th) alongside good label friends K Records, Sounds Familyre, and Tomlab. Entitled "Sophisticated Boom Boom," the showcase takes over two stages at the Beauty Bar and includes the musical talents of Mantler, Ben + Vesper, Niobe, Munch Munch, Jeremy Jay, L'Orchidee D'Hawai, Angelo Spencer, Ortolan, Danielson, Diamond Rings and our own Rafter and Jookabox.

That same night, for those desiring to get a little less sweaty, DM Stith will be bringing a late night transcendance to St. David's Bethell Hall where he will be playing with piano and strings.
