It’s Wednesday in the Shapes and Sizes Half-Week, and a few new entries have cropped up in the Sidebar. Sufjan Stevens has reviewed Shapes and Sizes’ recent live show in Union Hall, and the band psuedo-interviews themselves in a piece too intense for just one sidebar. Come back tomorrow for part two!

As of today we have officially released Shapes and Sizes’ new album, Split Lips, Winning Hips, a Shiner. You should be able to find it on the shelves of your local independent record store. You can also purchase it from our online site by clicking here for the CD, here for the vinyl, or here for iTunes. We have a couple free mp3s, and a full, free audio stream of the entire record, on the album page.
To celebrate this new release (that we are very proud of, if you can’t tell!), we’re kicking off a Half-Week of Shapes and Sizes content, and oh what a half-week it will be: with videos, reviews, sidebar write-ups, AKradio playlists, photographs, and origami – OH MY!
Ok, no origami. But with all the material we’re posting this week, you won’t have time to fold paper! Check here everyday until Friday for new material.

Shapes and Sizes’ new album, Split Lips, Winning Hips, a Shiner, releases May 22, but you can order it right here on asthmatickitty.com starting next Tuesday, May 8th. Those who do will probably receive their copy a few days before the records stores.
And the first 150 who order Split Lips from our website starting May 8th will receive a limited release Shapes and Sizes and Castanets’ Tour EP, shipped straight from honest Wyoming.
Those that have heard Split Lips seem to really enjoy this record. Uncut Magazine filed it under "fractured indie rock with hints of Scandinavian improv-jazz." And The Plugg said that Shapes and Sizes have "upped the stakes" with this one. Other interested parties can listen to a free, full-album stream here. That should be enough to prepare you for the upcoming Shapes and Sizes Half-Week, which will start May 22.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Shapes and Sizes is regrettably canceling all remaining dates on their tour with Castanets. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Castanets will complete their tour dates, which you can view here.

The video of Shapes and Sizes’ "Jinker/That Fat Hand" is crafted by Katie Jung. The song is available on the Unusual Animals Shapes and Sizes Vinyl Series Volume 1. This exclusive 7 inch is only available in two places: from our mail-order, or from Shapes and Sizes themselves! Hey, they’re stocked with exclusives; they also have a limited print tour EP somewhere in those merchandise boxes. Catch them, this 7 inch, and the exclusive EP on their tour with the Castanets.

What happens when two Asthmatic Kitty bands collide? A tour that shakes the Northern Americas to its core, that’s what. Castanets and Shapes and Sizes will be trucking from town to town, getting to know each other – and hopefully you! – a little better. Tour stops will include DC, New Orleans, Dallas, Chicago, and SXSW in Austin,Texas (more information on that next week). Shapes and Sizes will then smuggle Castanets into their homeland with stops in Toronto and Montreal.
And yes, since you’re wondering, the van’s cargo will not only include old (fake) ham sandwiches and empty water bottles, but also copies of an split tour EP. This tour EP is a limited edition digipack of 1000 copies and is beautifully adorned with artwork by our sidebar art correspondent, Gala Bent. These will be available alongside the also limited Unusual Animals Vinyl Series, Volumes 1 & 2. They will make these available at their merchandise tables (while supplies last) at each of the shows.
