This Saturday is Canada Day! Happy Dominion Day to our North American brethren, the Canadians! Or, if you're using the vernacular, Happy Canadian Day! This year's Canada Day is particularly applicable to Asthmatic Kitty with the new addition of the British Columbian Shapes and Sizes. We feel that they embody everything good and great about Canada, from the country's beautiful and diverse countryside to its remarkably friendly people!
One hundred and thirty-nine years ago today, John A. Macdonald and the Fathers of Confederation asked that the British Empire give the province of Canada national autonomy. Deciding that another colonial revolution might be kind of a bad idea, the British Parliament agreed. The Dominion of Canada was born! In the same way the British empire gave Canada the nation to all peoples of the world, we too will defer to Shapes and Sizes' subtle revolution of sound by giving the gift of re-music!
Take their popular "Wilderness," and do something amazing with the song. Remix it, reinterpret it, cover it. A specially selected panel of elite bloggers ("elite" means they blog more than once a week) will choose the best of the submissions. The winner will receive a front page posting on our site and eternal gratitude from the record label and Shapes and Sizes, the Canadian way!But hey, we can't ignore that we are American and therefore egregiously capitalistic.
